Usual Adult Dose for Bacterial Conjunctivitis

Moxeza(R): Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice a day.
Vigamox(R): Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) 3 times a day.

Duration of therapy: 7 days

Use: For the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis due to susceptible strains of:

• Moxeza(R): Aerococcus viridans, Corynebacterium macginleyi, Enterococcus faecalis, Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus arlettae, S aureus, S capitis, S epidermidis, S haemolyticus, S hominis, S saprophyticus, S warneri, Streptococcus mitis, S pneumoniae, S parasanguinis, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Propionibacterium acnes, Chlamydia trachomatis
• Vigamox(R): Corynebacterium species, M luteus, S aureus, S epidermidis, S haemolyticus, S hominis, S warneri, S pneumoniae, Streptococcus (viridans group), Acinetobacter lwoffii, H influenzae, H parainfluenzae, C trachomatis

Moxeza(R):

• Aged 4 months or older: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice a day.

Vigamox(R): Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) 3 times a day.

Precautions

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

• Moxeza(R): None
• Vigamox(R): History of hypersensitivity to the active component, to other quinolones, or to any of the ingredients

Moxeza(R): Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients younger than 4 months.

Administration advice:

• For topical ophthalmic use only (not for injection)
• Do not inject subconjunctivally; do not introduce directly into the anterior chamber of the eye.

Storage requirements:

• Store at 2C to 25C (36F to 77F).

Patient advice:

• Do not wear contact lenses if you have signs/symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis.
• Avoid contaminating the applicator tip with material from the eye, fingers, or any other source; do not touch the applicator tip to any surface.
• Stop this drug and contact physician at first sign of rash or allergic reaction.
